Just another reason I am a huge fan of Tim McGraw!
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—As the father of three girls, Tim McGraw understands the challenges that face dads who want to please their daughters.
So the children’s book he’s co-written with Tom Douglas has some simple advice: As long as you’re spending time with them, it doesn’t really matter what you do.
“My Little Girl,“ to be published Tuesday by Thomas Nelson, tells the story of a father — in a dark cowboy hat, of course — who spends a fun day with his little girl Katie doing ... nothing in particular.
They stop by the farm co-op, gaze up at the clouds and play on a tire swing.
The 41-year-old country singer said he enjoys spending time with his daughters — ages 11, 10 and 6 — but if he did what they liked doing, he’d be spending a lot of time shopping at the mall or getting pedicures.
“It’s something that as a father you kind of have to sacrifice what you want to do, because boys do what you want to do. If I want to go to the farm and shoot guns or ride four-wheelers in the mud when it’s 40 degrees ... the girls aren’t really interested in doing that,“ he said.
But McGraw said he’s found that his daughters like coming along while he does simple, everyday stuff, like running to the grocery store or stopping by the office.
“Do what you have to do in your regular routine and take them with you. It makes all the difference in the world,“ he said.
McGraw’s wife, Faith Hill, wrote in the forward: “I hope this story provides quality time for fathers and daughters to enjoy each other’s company and make memories reading together.“
While Hill loved the book, McGraw said, his daughters were far less enthusiastic.
“If it doesn’t have Chris Brown or the Jonas Brothers involved, they don’t care,“ he joked.

We had great guests in studio again...Brandon and Charlie from The Pay it Foward Foundation.
MSnugZPresident/CEO Brandon Mackay and Vice President Charley Johnson have created silicon bracelets that are imprinted with the phrase, “Pay It Forward.” The bracelets are distributed to anyone who wants them, at no cost whatsoever (SnugZ even covers the shipping).
The inspiration for the bracelets came from the book, “Pay It Forward,” written by Catherine Ryan Hyde. Of course, the book was later made into a feature film in 2000, and starred Kevin Spacey, Helen Hunt and Haley Joel Osment. In 2000, Hyde and some of her associates established the Pay It Forward Foundation with the primary purpose of educating and inspiring students to realize that they can change the world. The foundation also provides students and teachers with materials to “pay it forward.” SnugZ Vice President Johnson is a board member of the foundation.
To date, Johnson and Mackay have distributed more than 300,000 bracelets. The first 100,000 went out the door in about six months, the second 100,000 took about three months, and the third 100,000 will probably only take a few more weeks. The bracelets have been shipped to six continents and over 50 countries. Johnson and Mackay have said their goal is to distribute billions of bracelets around the world. “You have to think, so why not think BIG? Some how, some way we will make this HUGE goal a reality,” says Johnson.
“The plan for the future is to change the world like no one has ever seen before or ever thought possible. There are simply too many people in the world right now who are begging for change. For us, there’s no money involved, and we’re not asking for donations. We simply want to help the people you pass by every day become better,” Johnson said.
He added, “If you want to see the full effect a simple Pay It Forward bracelet can have, go to lunch today and buy lunch for the person behind you. After the shock of the person goes away, remove your bracelet, hand it to him or her, and ask that person to pay it forward. Then, just walk away. You’ll quickly see how addicted you become to taking care of others, and seeing the response you receive from a single act of kindness.”

Our next little 'nameless' addition to this world is due Decemebr 24th,2008.....
I wrote this last Friday and it will run in ‘Wasatch Woman’ magazine soon…enjoy!
What’s in a name? What is the big deal? “We’re pregnant!” So they say. Let’s get one thing straight from the start. My awesome wife Noelle is pregnant. I, on the other hand, am guilty as charged.
We already have a house full of kids, in my opinion. There is Jake (9), Aimee (4), and Drew (2). You would be hard pressed to find three more beautiful kids. I am not bragging, I just know what I see. I have seen ugly. We all have. Just go down to your local big box warehouse store on ‘free sample’ day and look around. There they are clamoring for another deep fried chicken nugget dipped in a very secret sauce acting like they haven’t eaten since Steve left Blues Clues.
I digress….
We do know that we are having a boy and he is due in December and the quandary is what to name him? In an ideal world the experts say that the decision of what to name a child should be made together. A joint effort. I am not so good at that kind of team work. I don’t want the pressure of coming up with names. I want veto power. Noelle is Congress and I am the Executive branch. Noelle has ideas for names almost daily and I casually discard them the way Dikembe Mutombo (NBA player who is tall) swats away a Mugsy Bogues lay up. Here’s an example. She suggested the name Devin. I realize Devin is a solid name. I know a couple of nice fellas named Devin. However, I remember a Devin in elementary school who had stinky feet. Therefore, I am unable to separate the name from the odor.
Another problem with names and having a large extended family is that the good names have already been taken. For a boy I like Charles. Taken. Troy. Gone. Ryan. Ditto. Luke. That one too. Are there any good ones left?
I also have an odd last name. Stubbs. What goes with Stubbs? Not much really. It does not exactly roll off the tongue. I have heard all the jokes. “Hey, Ticket Stubbs!” “Stubbie!” Ugh….my poor boy!
My wife likes the name Harry. Actually, I like it too. David Letterman named his son Harry. There is Prince Harry. But, Harry Stubbs? No thanks.
Often you can tell the age of a person by their name. Perhaps a famous person influenced a generation. I wonder how many kids there will be named Barack? Or Kanye? Shaquille? How about Mitt? Or heaven forbid, Sanjaya? I am not judging but there are a lot of Spencers and Gordons around here.
I want my children to have names that they like. I wonder how Mr. and Mrs. Sumner felt when their son came home from school one day and announced that henceforth his name would be Sting. Sure, that’s a great name if you are an artist but not if you are my attorney.
I don’t want to go the route of naming my son after cities around Utah. Sure, some work like Logan, Brighton, Brigham, Layton, etc. I can even live with Vernal. But, who would name their child Tremonton? (actually a friend of mine did). What’s next, Panguitch? Can the twins ‘Tooele’ and ‘Dugway’ be far behind?
Perhaps I am putting too much pressure on myself with this name thing. It is a struggle. Am I over analyzing this? I just want to get it right. For my child’s sake and for my sanity.
What’s in a name? Everything.
