Recently, Amazon announced that the company plans on raising the price of the Amazon Prime membership in the next few weeks. Amazon justified the rising price because of more exclusive content coming to the platform as well as Thursday Night Football. The annual increase in price will be $20 for the yearly memberships, and an increase of $2 for the monthly memberships.
The CFO said, “Since 2018, Prime Video has tripled the number of Amazon originals. This, along with the continued expansion of Prime member benefits, and the increased use we have seen, along with increased costs and inflation, resulted in the price increase.”
