Monroe Visits Ronald McDonald House

McDonald’s AND CUSTOMERS HELP KEEP INTERMOUNTAIN AREA CHILDREN, FAMILIES CLOSE WHEN THEY NEED IT MOST

Local McDonald’s restaurants and Salt Lake-based RMHC Chapter look for $80,000 locally, now through November 19th.

With the Season of Giving upon us, and as families everywhere make plans to spend quality time together over the holidays, McDonald’s customers in Utah, western Wyoming and eastern Nevada can help families who must travel great distances to seek treatment for their seriously ill children, by allowing them to stay close to one another as well.

McDonald’s fifteen annual National Fundraiser benefitting Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) kicks off Tuesday, Nov. 7 and continues through Sunday, Nov. 19 in participating restaurants nationwide. Customers who visit a McDonald’s in Utah, western Wyoming or eastern Nevada during this time can participate and support families staying at the Salt Lake City-based Ronald McDonald House by making a donation in $1, $3 or $5 denominations. In return, they will receive a “thank you” coupon for a free small fries or hash browns, good for use on their next visit through Nov. 30 with no purchase required.

All fundraiser proceeds benefit RMHC, which helps keep families in local communities close to each other and the care and resources they need when they have a sick child. Event organizers hope to raise $5 million for the Charity this year.

“We are always excited to be part of the annual RMHC Fundraiser. We are so grateful at how our communities rally to help us support the charity at our local restaurants in the Intermountain area. Please come purchase a hand for $1, $3 or $5 from your local McDonald’s restaurant November 1-13 and help us keep families together.” – Local McDonald’s Owner/Operator Rob Sparrer.

With over 42 years of support from McDonald’s, its customers, and other organizations, funding for RMHC comes not only through McDonald’s National Fundraiser event, but also from customer donations to restaurant RMHC Donation Boxes, ongoing donations from Happy Meal and Mighty Kids Meal sales, as well as various other initiatives and organizations. In Utah, western Wyoming and eastern Nevada, restaurants also donate over $100,000 a year to RMHC of the Intermountain Area through the Fries for Families Campaign. Throughout the year, McDonald’s customers can find RMHC Donation Boxes at the front counter and in drive-thrus at participating restaurants. No donation is too small, and every contribution makes a difference. From 2010-2016, McDonald’s USA’s support of RMHC through penny per Happy Meal and Mighty Kids Meal donations, the National Fundraiser, and restaurant Donation Boxes has raised more than $220 million in contributions to the Charity.

“Last year in Utah we generated over $73,000 to support RMHC of the Intermountain Area at our local McDonald’s restaurants through this fundraiser,” said Carrie Romano, executive director of local charity. “Through our two core programs, the Ronald McDonald House® and Ronald McDonald Family Room®, we will serve over 10,000 families locally this year.”

In the United States, RMHC operates 180 Ronald McDonald Houses, 124 Ronald McDonald Family Rooms and 38 Ronald McDonald Care Mobiles. This year, donations to RMHC have helped open five new Ronald McDonald Houses, nine new Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, and one new Ronald McDonald Care Mobile.
