Service Project for MLK Day

On January 15th, BYU’s Y-Serve will be hosting Community Outreach Day. Sunshine Heroes is proud to be a supporter of this incredible event. Taking place on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Community Outreach Day unites the local communities in a celebration of giving.

The event consists of a free breakfast, a cultural celebration, and the completion of various service projects. We are in need of volunteers for this day! All ages and abilities are welcome and we would love for families to participate. Below is the schedule for the day, as well as information about the service projects which will be provided. We would love to see you there.

Location: BYU Wilkinson Student Center 

*8:00-8:45am: Register for a service project, and enjoy donuts and juice (First 100 volunteers get a free t-shirt)

*8:45-9:30am: Cultural Celebration with Debra Bonner Unity Gospel Choir and keynote speaker

*9:45am-12:00pm: 20 various service projects to choose from.

There will be a variety of service projects to choose from upon arrival. At registration you will sign up for a specific service project to participate in throughout the day. Several projects will be available at the Wilkinson Center. Also available will be service projects off-campus. There will be shuttles provided to access these locations, or you may choose to drive yourself there if you would like.

Some of these projects include a variety of clean-up services for Provo Parks and Recreation department (dress warmly if you are interested in participation with these events), Habitat for Humanity, and various Retirement and Care centers throughout the area. Last year we had over 1,300 people come volunteer. We are so excited for this opportunity to serve with you once more! Community Outreach Day Team

    Jon is our resident "veteran" of the Eagle, hanging out with Eagle friends for almost an entire decade! In fact, when he started, it was just he and his wife in Utah. Now Jon and Jenn have two kids (Liam and Ella) and in-laws in town! Originally from Long Beach, CA, Jon moved to Wichita for his first radio job. This is where he won his first CMA for Personality of the Year. From Kansas to Utah, Jon has been a fixture on our station - sharing his struggles as a Dad, husband, and boss! Jon also hosted a successful podcast called Breaking Nashville where he introduced you to the next generation of Country superstars!
