Mitchell Taebel, 36, of Long Beach, Indiana, was arrested on the morning of Taylor Swift’s first Chicago show after allegedly showing up to her Nashville residence last month. Taebel has been charged with stalking by threatening serious injury or death, intimidation, invasion of privacy and harassment. He allegedly sent pictures of weapons via social media to members of Taylor Swift’s management company, left a message to Swift’s father, and posted threatening videos to Swift on Instagram. On May 5, Taebel allegedly traveled to Nashville and made an appearance at the building of Swift’s top-floor penthouse. He was able to get into the venue the next day despite being on a “security threat/concern list.” After returning home, Taebel posted a racially hate-filled tirade video on Instagram. On May 11, attorneys for Swift’s management company were granted a temporary restraining order against Taebel in Nashville. Taebel was charged on May 31 in Indiana and his bail was set at $15,000. He entered a not guilty plea and his next court date is scheduled for July 27.
