A new study has found that films that have female leads earn more at the box office.
The study, done by Creative Arts Agency and shift7, looked at 350 top films between 2014 and 2017 and found that in every category broken down by budget women reigned over men.
“The perception that it’s not good business to have female leads is not true,” says CAA Agent Christy Haubegger. “They’re a marketing asset.” Many hope that the study will be evidence for Hollywood that representation should be improved in all films creating more diverse roles.
