1955   Happy Birthday Drummer Brian Prout  of Diamond Rio born on this day in Troy, New York. Diamond Rio have received many awards including Vocal Group of the Year awards and man hits during the 1990s and early 2000s.

 

1971 Seven months after eloping to Mexico, George Strait re-marries Norma Voss in Texas to satisfy their parents.

1971 – Charley Pride’s biggest hit ascends to #1 on the Billboard country chart: “Kiss An Angel Good Mornin’

1981 Happy Birthday Lila McCann born on this day in Puyallup Washington.  At the age of 15 she goes #1 in 1997 with “I Wanna Fall In Love” (watch youtube video) She is nominated from the Academy of Country Music for Top New Female.  Her first two albums goes Gold.

1991 The Judds perform the final show of their Farewell Tour (watch youtube video concert here) at the Murphy Center in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Naomi Judd is retiring, suffering from a potentially fatal strain of hepatitis, leaving Wynonna to pursue a solo career.

2004 Gary Allan reaches the top spot on the Billboard country singles chart with “Nothing On But The Radio”(watch youtube video)
