It Happened On This Day In Country Music History

1973 Eric Weissberg was at #1 on the country music album chart with Dueling Banjos”.  It was mad famous in the movie “Deliverance” (starring Jon Voight and Burt Reynolds), which also led to a successful lawsuit by the song’s composer, as it was used in the film without his permission.

1980 Happy Birthday Sunday April 1st Kip Moore born on this day in Tifton, Georgia.  Singer-songwriter, who scored the 2012 #1 Country single “Somethin’ ‘Bout a Truck”

1984 Happy Birthday Justin Moore  country music singer and songwriter. Hits include the #1 hits “Small Town USA“and “If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away” 

1986 Happy Birthday Hillary Scott, (Sunday April 1st) country music singer-songwriter with Lady Antebellum, who scored the 2009 US #1 Country hit “I Run To You.” and “Need You Now”

 

1990 Happy Birthday Thomas Rhett  American country music singer, the son of singer-songwriter Rhett Akins. His third single, His 2015 single “Die a Happy Man” topped the country charts for 16 weeks.  His latest single “Marry Me”

1998 Clint Black was at #1 on the Country singles chart with “Nothin’ but The Taillights” the third single and title track from his album of the same name. This single became Black’s eleventh #1 single, twenty-sixth Top Ten single, and twenty-seventh Top Twenty single.

2006 Carrie Underwood was at #1 on the US country charts with her debut album Some Hearts. It is the best selling debut album by a solo female country music artist in history. The album contains the #1 singles “Jesus, Take the Wheel”, “Don’t Forget to Remember Me”, “Wasted”, and “Before He Cheats”.
