1968 Happy Birthday Chris Cagle is born on this day in DeRidder, Louisiana. Chris Cagle  hits include Miss Me Baby, What Kinda Gone, and What A Beautiful Day

 

1975 Reba McEntire signs her first recording contract, with Mercury Records.  It took till 1983 to get her first #1 song “Can’t Even Get The Blues”

 

 

1983 Happy Birthday Miranda Lambert is born in Longview, Texas.  Country Music Association’s Female Vocalist of the Year seven times from 2010-2017 so many hits including “Mama’s Broken Heart and The House That Built me”

 

 

1995 George Strait begins a four-week stay at #1 on the Billboard country chart with “Check Yes Or No”

 

 

2001 “Angry All The Time”  by Tim McGraw is #1 on the Billboard country singles charts.

 

 

2004 “Redneck Woman” by Gretchen Wilson‘s is certified gold.

 

 

 

2005 Rascal Flatts “Skin (Sarabeth)” video debuts on CMT.

 

 

 

2006 Carrie Underwood is at #1 at the top of the Billboard country charts with “Before He Cheats”

 

 

2008 Big Machine Records releases Taylor Swift’s album “Fearless”.  The album included “Love Story” which thrust Taylor Swift towards super stardom.  The rest they say is Country Music History.

 

2014 MCA releases Sam Hunt’s “Take Your Time” to radio.  It debuted at #55 reaching #1 on 2/21/15 The song was certified Gold bon March 11, 2015, Platinum status on April 14, 2015, and 2× Platinum on August 7, 2015.  The song reached its two million sales mark in the US in March 2016.
